About the Artist

Welcome to Conversations with Canvas.

I am Dr. Shaazia Hawai ; a dentist by profession and an artist by passion. While dentistry has been my career, art has always been my constant companion. For over 40 years, painting has been my way of observing, reflecting, and celebrating the beauty hidden in everyday life.

My work focuses on expressive still life, created in a Loose Realism style. I am inspired by ordinary objects , a teapot, a bowl of fruit, a treasured cup, a vase of flowers, or a cherished keepsake. Through expressive brushwork, rich colour, and gentle textures, I transform these familiar objects into warm, intimate stories that invite viewers to pause, connect, and find comfort in life's simple moments.

Every painting is more than a composition of objects; it is a conversation. A conversation about home, memory, quiet joys, and the emotions we associate with the things that surround us. These everyday subjects become the language through which I express warmth, nostalgia, and a sense of belonging.
